Library Demonstration

We recently worked with the Cambrian Branch Library to host a robotics demonstration for kids aged 5-12. We explained more how our team and FTC operates, talked about ways they could start learning about robotics, showed off our robot, and even let some of the kids drive it!

Longhorn Hacks 2025 (3rd Annual Hackathon)

Longhorn Hacks, Leighs 3rd annual hackathon hosted by Longhorn Robotics, was an all-day, beginner-friendly, free coding event hosted in the Leigh High School Cafeteria on March 8th 2025 from 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM. We had over 30 eager participants, food throughout the day, and over $3200 in prizes!

Middle School Presentations

This season, we've held several presentations at various middle schools throughout our community including Union and Ida Price. We introduced the students to our team, FIRST robotics, and we demonstrated our robot, inspiring students to learn more about robotics in the future!

Dartmouth Makerspace 2024-2025

We partnered with the Dartmouth Middle School MakerSpace for their 2nd and 4th session. We taught a 3-4 week course educating students in the CAD aspect of robotics. We created our own curriculum and taught them how to use TinkerCAD and the fundamentals of 3D printing.

Longhorn Robotics 2nd Annual Hackathon

Our second Hackathon was hosted online through Devpost in April 2024 to great success with over $600 in prizes and over 50 participants across the globe!

Project React: 1st Annual Hackathon

The event was held on February 25, 2023 from 9AM to 9PM at the Leigh High School Cafeteria in San Jose, CA.

AMAs with Local Schools

In the past, one of our main forms of outreach was to host AMAs (Ask me Anythings) at local middle and elementary schools. We would bring 4-5 members as well as experts in various engineering professions for students to get their questions about engineering and robotics answered.

Dartmouth Makerspace

Dartmouth is a local middle school near Leigh High School. Many of Dartmouth's students come to Leigh yearning to join Longhorn Robotics, so we aim to give them a headstart. From 2019-2022 we have held a program collaborating with Dartmouth's Makerspace to teach robotics to all those who are interested.

Python Coding Workshop

Over the course of a month during the COVID season, we collaborated with a VEX robotics team at a neighboring high school–Branham High School–to bring forth an online learning environment where students would learnn Python then make their own projects. Students were given a large amount of knowledge in Python, in which they could use to develop further, more advanced projects.
